How To Manage Employee Performance?
#11
Setting the objectives, expectation and agreeing for deliverable are very critical. Once the new employee joins the orgn, considerable time should be spend by HR and his stake holders, before signing the KRA sheet. It should not be a formality to complete the HR process,/ or part of joining documentation. Before start of the financial year, conducting goal setting workshops will help employees to get better clarity towards the companies dynamic objectives and set the pace. Periodic performance review should be conducted by Manager and all meeting discussion / outcome should be recorded for reference. Companies should move away from traditional forced BELL curve model, where people have lost the faith, as most of the time, it becomes a number driven process like sales etc.

The success of the organization depends on how well each and every employee performs. But many organizations struggle with maximizing employee performance while keeping employee morale high and turnover low. There is nothing to worry about as there are techniques to manage employee performance:

Set clear expectations and communicate well with them, then the next step is to manage their expectations. Having frequent communication is important. Ensure the employees understand their objectives by asking them to explain in their own words.

Use SMART goals: SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. When employee goals are realistic, it provides them with ownership and encourages them to achieve their goals.

Give timely and frequent feedback: When an employee does something that is worth recognizing, give him or her the recognition. If it's appropriate consider them giving a reward. Any type of feedback works for employees, even negative feedback is valuable.
